Back in 2012, Banya No.1 opened its very first location in Hoxton, London — offering something that had never been done before in the UK. This wasn’t just a wellness centre. It was the country’s first true Russian banya, built on centuries-old traditions and designed to deliver real, lasting results.
Since then, what began as a single destination has evolved into a family of banyas across Europe. And with every new opening, our values stay the same: powerful contrast therapy, authentic treatments, and spaces that help you reconnect with yourself — wherever you are.
In this blog, we’re telling the story of how Banya No.1 began, sharing the unique spirit of each location, and introducing our newest branch in Paris. You’ll also find links to each local website and Instagram to stay connected.
Our Roots: Where It All Started
Our journey started in Hoxton, East London, with one clear idea — to bring the revitalising effect of Russian banya culture to a new audience. It was never just about the steam. The banya experience is a rhythm: hot, cold, rest, repeat. Add to that our signature Parenie ritual, natural treatments, and food made to nourish the body, and it became something completely unique.
Soon, Banya No.1 caught the attention of the press and the public. Articles appeared in The Times, Forbes, and Condé Nast, and celebrity visitors like Emilia Clarke, Kate Moss, and Justin Bieber helped spread the word. But beyond the fame, our real success has always been the people who visit looking for something meaningful — and leave feeling changed.
Our Locations: Unique Settings, Shared Soul
Each Banya No.1 has its own energy, location, and design — but every one of them is grounded in the same tradition and purpose: to offer a deeply effective banya ritual that recharges body and mind.
📍 Banya No.1 – Hoxton (Opened 2012)
Our first home, located in East London, introduced thousands to the power of the banya. Over the years, the space expanded to include Private Spa Suite Taiga for more secluded visits.
Inside, you’ll find nods to traditional Russian design — from Kelo log steam rooms and cosy lounge cabins to vintage posters and banya-inspired artwork that creates a warm and nostalgic setting.

📍 Banya No.1 – Chiswick (Opened 2021)
Our second London location opened in Chiswick in 2021, quickly building its own strong community. This branch brings the same banya rituals into a more minimalist and Nordic-inspired space — with Kelo wood accents, calm lighting, and a modern approach to timeless traditions.

📍 Banya No.1 – Tbilisi (Opened 2022)
Our Georgian branch, opened in 2022, became the first Banya No.1 outside the UK. Just 30 minutes from the capital, we’re located in the peaceful village of Kiketi, surrounded by nature, mountain views, and fresh air.
The building is carved into the cliffside to preserve the environment and opens out to a dramatic ravine. Guests enjoy steam sessions, cold plunges, and relaxing on the sun terrace with panoramic views — or a meal overlooking the waterfall. With both private and public areas, it’s a full wellness escape unlike anything else in the region.

📍 New Opening: Banya No.1 – Paris (Joined 2025)
Our most recent addition is in Paris. Previously known as Kupala Banya, this location became part of the Banya No.1 group in 2025 — bringing together our wellness philosophy with an established Parisian favourite.
Situated in the 15th arrondissement, the banya includes two private suites — Petit Banya (up to 3 people) and Grand Banya (up to 6). Natural textures, wood details, soft lighting, and an earthy, calming interior create a cosy retreat in the middle of the city.

🍃 What Connects Us All
Across every branch, no matter the city or design, our core elements stay consistent:
Our banyas aren’t about trends or pampering. They’re about doing something that truly works — for your body, mind, and energy.
Our Philosophy
We believe banya is one of the most powerful wellness tools in the world. It brings calm, improves sleep, boosts immunity, clears the mind, and rebalances your whole system. And that’s what keeps people coming back.
From London to Tbilisi to Paris, our goal has always been to share this with more people — while keeping it grounded in tradition and nature.
